November 16, 2020On November 16, 2020, at the 2020 Canadian Science Policy Conference, Ontario Genomics’ President and CEO, Dr. Bettina Hamelin, announced the launch of an important and comprehensive White Paper: Engineering Biology– A platform technology to fuel multi-sector economic recovery and modernize biomanufacturing in Canada.
Led by Ontario Genomics and written collaboratively by the National Engineering Biology Steering Committee, this paper discusses how engineering biology is a national opportunity to advance Canada’s knowledge-based economy and create high-quality jobs and training opportunities. It will also ensure that Canadian biotechnology companies and manufacturers are competitive in the growing global market.
$6.2-million in funding announced to support clean grape vine program
November 3, 2020On October 27th, Brock University’s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI) announced a $6.2-million funding commitment through Genome Canada’s Genomic Applications Partnership Program (GAPP) to support the Canadian Grapevine Certification Network (CGCN-RCCV) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) in supplying the industry with certified virus-free grapevine planting material.
